We’re celebrating this International Women’s Day by taking a look back at historical influential women in Lighting. Specifically, Monica Maurice and Gwendolen Sergant.

Helen Monica Maurice was an industrialist and Managing Director and Chairman of the Wolf Safety Lamp Company, Sheffield, which began as a mining and safety lamp manufacturer. After working for British intelligence in the aftermath of World War Two, Maurice rebuilt the company and its markets in the post-war years and over the decades diversified the business from old-fashioned mining lamps to targeting industrial markets with a safety lighting range.

In 1938, Maurice became the first, and for 40 years the only, woman member of the Association of Mining

Working on a project that involves lighting? We now have 4 fully-trained Relux lighting designers at Northgate Lighting, and will be training more of our Account Managers to ensure we can assist customers in every possible way.

We can fully support electrical wholesalers by providing free lighting design to their customers, also offering our expert lighting advice for projects, providing every product quoted via the wholesaler.

Managing Director at Northgate Lighitng, Adrian Lee, began Northgate Lighting Ltd. in 2006 with a team of 2! Now the business has grown to 50 team members, a 50,000 ft² warehouse and over 12,000 product lines.
